Sterilin Pipettes - Quality Assured
The Sterilin range of serological pipettes is synonomous with both quality and innovation. In keeping with the exacting requirements of today’s scientists we now offer certified pyrogen (endotoxin) levels to 0.01EU/ml and, in addition, our range of pipettes are now also validated non haemolytic.
· Non Pyrogenic
For many years Sterilin pipettes have been certified ‘non-pyrogenic’ to a level of 0.25EU/ml in line with key competitors in the market. Due to the stringent manufacturing procedures/methods we employ, we are able to improve on this level - Sterilin product is now certified to 0.01EU/ml; a level lower than that of our leading competitors.
Why is this important?
A pyrogen is a substance that, if introduced to the body, will cause a rise in body temperature. This only really poses a problem for those who are ill in hospital, the very old and very young where introduction in the system could prove fatal. For this reason the ppharmaceutical and clinical sectors often have to pyrogen test products in house, and with ever increasing sensitivity in test methods it has become essential to ensure that the product we supply does not interfere with or influence the results in any way.
· Non Haemolytic
Haemolysis is the term given to the breakdown or destruction of red blood cells. As serological pipettes are often used during the analysis of blood and blood products it is important that the polymer used in the manufacture of the product does not have a detrimental effect during such tests. Sterilin are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer our range of Serological Pipettes validated non haemolytic in accordance with BS EN ISO 10993-4:2002 Biological evaluation of Medical Devices.
These additions benefit the comprehensive range of standard pipette sizes from 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 & 50ml, and also 5 & 10ml shortie pipettes for use in laminar flow cabinets.
